Peter Cummings, John R. Hall Professor of Chemical Engineering in the department of chemical and biomolecular engineering at Vanderbilt University, will receive the 2012 Yeram S. Touloukian Award from the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME). The award, consisting of a bronze medal, certificate and travel grant, is awarded once every three years to recognize outstanding technical contributions in the field of thermophysical properties. The award will be presented to Cummings at the 18th Symposium on Thermophysical Properties, to be held June 24-29 in Boulder, Colo., where Cummings will present the Touloukian award lecture during the opening plenary session of the conference.

Peter Cummings, John R. Hall Professor of Chemical Engineering at Vanderbilt University, and Michael Simpson, professor of materials science and engineering at University of Tennessee, Knoxville, publish a Perspective article  in the April issue of the ACS Nano on the role of correlations and fluctuations in physical and biological nanosystems. An overview of the article can be found here.
