Krish Roy, Bruce and Bridgitt Evans Dean of Engineering and University Distinguished Professor, presented 13 awards to outstanding faculty and staff at a reception following the final School of Engineering faculty meeting of the 2025-2026 academic year on May 5. Roy also announced the award of emeritus status to four School of Engineering faculty members.
“Over the past year, the School of Engineering has accelerated its momentum—developing innovative academic programming, expanding and enhancing our state-of-the-art facilities, and continuing to make a transformative impact on the most pressing societal and scientific grand challenges of our time,” Roy said. “I’m pleased to recognize the faculty and staff members honored this year for their extraordinary contributions. And I want to thank each and every member of the School of Engineering community for their enduring dedication to our educational and research success.”
Roy presented seven faculty awards, and six staff awards:
Award for Excellence in Teaching: Amanda Lowery, associate chair for educational programs, director of undergraduate studies and professor of the practice of biomedical engineering.
Edward J. White Engineering Faculty Award for Excellence in Service: Lori Troxel, professor of the practice of civil and environmental engineering and director of undergraduate studies in civil engineering.
School of Engineering Faculty Research Awards
- Community Impact Research Award: Vice Dean Nilanjan Sarkar, senior associate dean for faculty affairs, David K. Wilson Professor of Engineering, and professor of mechanical engineering
- Innovative Research Award: Christos Constantinidis, professor of biomedical engineering, associate director of the Vanderbilt Brain Institute, and Stevenson Chair
- Interdisciplinary Research Award: Jack Noble, assistant professor of electrical and computer engineering
- Interdisciplinary Research Award: Nabil Simaan, professor of mechanical engineering
- Rising Star Research Award: Mona Ebrish, assistant professor of electrical and computer engineering

- Benoit Dawant, Cornelius Vanderbilt Chair in Engineering emeritus and professor emeritus of electrical engineering
- Todd Giorgio, professor emeritus of biomedical engineering
- D. Mitchell Wilkes, associate professor emeritus of electrical and computer engineering
