Celebrating Distinguished Alumni
The Distinguished Alumnus Award recognizes notable achievement, significant service and excellent character.
In 2021, four women were announced as Distinguished Alumnae of the School of Engineering. Sheryll D. Cashin, Jennifer R. Frist and Cathy Jo Thompson Linn are the new members of the academy and Courtney Clark Pastrick joins as a member of the school's Circle of Distinguished Friends.
“With this 2021 class of honorees, we are continuing our recognition of the women of Vanderbilt engineering,” said Philippe Fauchet, Bruce and Bridgitt Evans Dean.
“We thought it important to reflect on the past 110 years of women in the School of Engineering and to continue to raise the visibility of our talented and generous women engineers.”

Vanderbilt has boldly replaced all need-based undergraduate student loans with scholarship and grant assistance. This initiative, called Opportunity Vanderbilt, is helping to ensure that young people of every background can attend Vanderbilt, creating a dynamic learning community that benefits every student. About 62 percent of Vanderbilt undergraduates received financial aid last year. To secure the future of this program, we need to shift the costs of it from the operating budget to a larger endowment.
