Distributed Systems Research

Overview

This area explores issues in running applications on distributed systems with an emphasis on wide-area and wireless environments. Theoretical and practical aspects are important components of this research. Applications include: web information systems, e-commerce, mobile computing, and naming services. Research is focused on the investigation of middleware solutions including: the communication network of the application, client-server models versus peer-to-peer models, caching, and application quality of service.
