Biomedical Engineering focuses its research into four main areas:
  • Image and signal analysis, with an emphasis on using imaging systems to guide surgery and other therapies (Technology guided Therapy), magnetic resonance imaging, and analysis of nervous system signals
  • Biomedical optics, with an emphasis on laser-tissue interaction and spectroscopy for diagnosis of cancer and other disease states
  • Cellular bioengineering, with an emphasis on endothelial function, capillary permeability, and gene therapy
