Rajinder Khosla, program director, Electrical, Communications and Cyber Systems Division, Directorate for Engineering, National Science Foundation, will visit the School of Engineering Friday, March 26, and host a one-hour seminar for faculty on emerging opportunities in engineering and the NSF.
The program will be held in Stevenson Center, Room 5326, from 3:30-4:30 p.m.
Khosla will discuss the agency’s vision and mission and its emphasis on transformative research. His presentation will include research opportunities, with special emphasis on cross-cutting programs, within the Directorate for Engineering, and discussion of specific programs, including the Cyber Physical Systems program.
Khosla joined the NSF in 1996 and is currently a program director of the Integrative, Hybrid, and Complex Systems (IHCS) Program in the Electrical, Communications and Cyber Systems (ECCS) Division in the Engineering Directorate. He previously served as an Acting Director of the ECCS Division, Program Director in the Electronics, Photonics, and Device Technology (EPDT) Program. In 2002, Khosla was on a special assignment as an Embassy Fellow to study the state of nanotechnology research in Japan on behalf of the NSF and the U.S. State Department.
He is a Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), Fellow of the American Physical Society (APS), Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), and a Fellow of the Optical Society of America (OSA). He was awarded the 1990 IEEE Frederick Philips Award for R&D technical management. He is the Distinguished Alumnus of the College of Science at Purdue University.
