Peter T. Cummings, the John R. Hall Professor of Chemical Engineering, has received the Founders Award for Outstanding Contributions to the Field of Chemical Engineering from the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE). The award was presented on Nov. 7 in Salt Lake City at AIChE’s annual meeting.
Cummings was recognized along with 15 other leaders and innovators for exceptional achievements in the field of chemical engineering.
“The world faces many challenges today,” said Henry T. Kohlbrand, president of AIChE. “But chemical engineers, as demonstrated by these exceptional award winners, have the innovative spirit and skills to solve them. The accomplishments of these engineers and the work of our thousands of members worldwide are paving the way for a better future.”
AIChE, founded in 1908, is a professional association of 40,000 chemical engineers in 92 countries. Its members work in corporations, universities and government using their knowledge of chemical processes to develop safe and useful products for the benefit of society.
