Engineering alumna named to Silicon Valley’s 40 Under 40 list
Vanderbilt mechanical engineering graduate Krista Donaldson, BE’95 was named to Silicon Valley’s 40 Under 40 list. The 40 under 40 awards salutes the best and brightest men and women under the age of 40 who have made significant contributions in the business, professional, civic and personal arenas.
As CEO of D-Rev: Design Revolution, Donaldson, 38, manages a global nonprofit tech incubator that partners with major organizations like Stanford Medical School and the All Indian Institute of Medicine to create products to improve the lives of people in developing countries. For example, out of Palo Alto-based D-Rev came the ReMotion Jaipur Knee, which has helped 3,200 amputees in six countries.
According to the San Jose Business Journal, Donaldson is well-versed with the needs of the developing world. She has been a consulting engineer in Myanmar and Kenya, working on micro-irrigation pumps. She has also taught courses at University of Cape Town in Rondebosch, South Africa, and Kenyatta University in Nairobi, and written several publications involving design and development.
