Three engineering grads named to university’s alumni board
Three of seven new members of the Vanderbilt University Alumni Association Board are alumni of the School of Engineering. They were unanimously approved during the board’s April 12 meeting for three-year terms that began July 1, 2013.
The engineering alumni taking seats on the board are:
- Cathy Cox, BE’95, a producer at Sony Computer Entertainment America in San Diego, Calif. She is an active volunteer, former co-president of the San Diego Alumni Association Chapter and has attended four of the last seven Reunions/Homecomings.
Michael Han, MS’97, a civil engineer at Barge Waggoner Sumner & Cannon in Nashville, Tenn. He serves on the steering committee for the Nashville Alumni Association Chapter as the athletics chair and contributed a chapter in the guidebook for new international students at Vanderbilt, “A Guide to Vanderbilt Sports.” His son, Oliver, is a 2012 Vanderbilt graduate.
- Jeff Spencer, BS’83 and MD’87, an anesthesiologist at Northern Westchester Anesthesia Services. He lives in Harrison, N.Y., where he has been an active CoRPs volunteer and has served as a gift chair for the medical school. His daughter, Maddy, is in the Class of 2016 at Vanderbilt.
“Our new members are active alumni who generously donate time, treasure and talents to Vanderbilt and also represent the increasing diversity of our alumni population,” said Patti Early White, BA’76, chair of the board nominations committee. “Cathy, Michael and Jeff’s work for Vanderbilt has been tremendous and we are excited to have them involved.”
