It’s a technology that was first pitched in April when it won CTTC’s Flash Pitch competition, and now, the brains behind PinPtr will participate in the National Science Foundation’s (NSF) Innovation Corps (I-Corps) program.
The team, consisting of Akos Ledeczi, principal investigator and Vanderbilt associate professor in computer engineering, Will Hedgecock, entrepreneurial lead and Vanderbilt post doc, and Rigved Joshi, new ventures manager with CTTC, will travel to one of the NSF’s I-Corps sites to participate in the six-month business accelerator program.
PinPtr is a cloud-based, high-precision, low-cost positioning system that can literally pinpoint a location. While most positioning systems currently on the market can get about three to 10 meters of accuracy, PinPtr has the potential to deliver as close as 10 centimeters of accuracy. And it does so in three dimensions.
PinPtr is the third Vanderbilt team selected to participate in the I-Corps program. Team EndoInSight was selected for the Fall 2013 cohort, and Team Filtergraph just began the Summer 2014 cohort.
