Six Vanderbilt graduate engineering programs were ranked among the top 50 in the nation, according to the 2005 U.S. News and World Report annual ranking of leading graduate and professional schools.
Biomedical engineering led Vanderbilt engineering programs with a rank of 19th, up one place from last year’s ranking. Other engineering programs in the top 50 included:
- Chemical Engineering, tied at 48th;
- Civil Engineering, tied at 43rd;
- Computer Engineering, tied at 47th;
- Electrical Engineering, tied at 44th;
- Environmental Engineering, tied at 38th.
The Vanderbilt School of Engineering tied for 51st overall, up two places from last year.
When compared with other research-extensive Ph.D.-granting universities with fewer than 100 tenured and tenure-track engineering school faculty, the Vanderbilt School of Engineering ranks 13th in the nation.
Vanderbilt Engineering was ranked 38th in the nation among undergraduate engineering schools, in the magazine’s 2004 undergraduate rankings. When compared with other research-extensive Ph.D.-granting universities with fewer than 100 tenured and tenure-track engineering school faculty, the School ranks sixth in the nation.
