Events and contests designed to increase awareness of contributions engineers make to society are set for the third week in February, a date celebrated as National Engineers Week in the United States.
This year, to help celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Engineers Week ‘Discover E’ educational outreach program, the National Engineers Week Foundation is giving special recognition to engineer volunteers. More than 45,000 engineers will visit classrooms and conduct activities using materials expressly designed for the purpose. Five and a half million students and teachers are expected to take part this year.
Vanderbilt School of Engineering student organizations, Engineering Student Services, and the Dean’s Office are sponsoring a number of outreach opportunities as well as campus competitions designed to be educational and fun.
