The Vanderbilt University Institute of Imaging Science (VUIIS) has been selected to host the Cancer Imaging Camp, run by program staff of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) National Cancer Institute (NCI), in 2012 and 2013.
The Cancer Research Imaging Camp workshop is a special weeklong intensive course on in vivo imaging technique designed for postdoctoral fellows and early career-level faculty in fields related to basic cancer biology.
Through lectures and hands-on laboratory sessions, participants gain experience with a wide range of imaging modalities, including advanced optical imaging, MRI, PET, SPECT, CT, and ultrasound.
VUIIS is a trans-institutional initiative within Vanderbilt University serving physicians, scientists, students and corporate affiliates. It is supported by grants from the NIH, NSF, DOD, DOE, industry and foundations, as well as the University.
