Bob Higgins, president and CEO of Nashville-based architectural and engineering firm Barge, Waggoner, Sumner, and Cannon, Inc., has been appointed to the Vanderbilt University Engineering Alumni Council (EAC). Higgins will work on the EAC to serve as an ambassador, promote Vanderbilt engineering education and serve as an alumni representative to the faculty and staff. He will also work to support engineering students in career endeavors including student recruitment, career connections and development.
Higgins graduated in 1997 with a bachelor of engineering degree from the Vanderbilt School of Engineering and joined Barge Waggoner that same year. In 2009, he was named the new chief executive and took the reins of the firm, steering the company into a new market place business strategy. He is an active community leader and serves on the board of the Brentwood YMCA and is an alumni of Leadership Franklin, Leadership Nashville, and Leadership Franklin, Kentucky.
The EAC meets twice a year on campus and is continually seeking new, innovative ways to promote a Vanderbilt engineering education.
