Miles Clark Barr, BE’06, will receive the 2016 Young Alumni Professional Achievement Award, the Vanderbilt University Alumni Association Board of Directors recently announced.
“Miles is an impressive alumnus whose work in solar technologies will surely continue to shine in this emerging field,” said Jonathan Glasgow, BA’98, awards chair for the Alumni Association Board.
An inventor, entrepreneur and founder of Ubiquitous Energy Inc., a technology start-up developing a portfolio of emerging solar technologies, Miles Barr will receive the Young Alumni Professional Achievement Award. His company is discovering ways to produce transparent solar technology to eliminate the battery life limitations of mobile devices and to create invisible, power-producing coatings for windows to offset energy consumption.
Ubiquitous has received numerous awards, including National Science Foundation Small Business Innovation Research and Small Business Technology Transfer grants. Barr was recognized by the 2013 Forbes “30 under 30” in energy. He is a loyal Vanderbilt Oak Leaf Society member.
Barr is among six 2016 alumni award recipients who will receive an award Oct. 20 during the Alumni Awards Celebration.
