“I am deeply honored to accept the Early Career Achievement Award from SIIM, and sincerely appreciate the tremendous support and encouragement from the SIIM community, collaborators, colleagues, and my students,” said Huo, who also holds appointments in computer engineering, and pathology, microbiology and immunology.

Huo is director of the Biomedical Data Representation and Learning Lab (HRLB Lab) and teaching faculty member of the Data Science Institute at Vanderbilt. He applies image-processing technologies to leverage large-scale imaging studies.

Huo integrates biomedical image data—microscopy images, digital pathology images, and radiology images—with clinical data such as genetics, phenotypes, electrical medical records (EMR), and biomarkers improve understanding of individual anatomy and personalize medicine.

Prior to joining the Vanderbilt School of Engineering in 2020, Huo was a senior research scientist at PAII, a research and development laboratory in Palo Alto, California.
