Greg A. Andrews Memorial Award in Civil Engineering

The Andrews award goes to the senior Civil Engineering student having made the greatest progress in professional development and who plans to do graduate work in environmental and water resources engineering. This award was established in 1969 by Mr. James M. Andrews, Sr., in memory of his son, Greg, who was a School of Engineering junior.

Arthur J. Dyer, Jr. Memorial Prize

This prize is awarded to the member of the senior class doing the best work in the study and/or design in the use of structural steel, and who is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers. This prize, originally established by Arthur J. Dyer, Sr. in 1936, commemorates the memory of his son, a former student who was injured while prosecuting engineering duties on a bridge at Panama City, Florida, and who passed away in 1928.

ASCE/Dan Barge, Jr. Award in Civil Engineering

The Barge Award goes to the junior Civil Engineering student exhibiting outstanding academic performance and dedication to professional or community service. The award was established in 2005 in memory of Dan Barge, Jr., Past-President of ASCE and Vanderbilt Civil Engineering alumnus.

Walter Gill Kirkpatrick Prize in Civil Engineering

The Walter Gill Kirkpatrick Prize in Civil Engineering was established in 1926 with a bequest from Walter Kirkpatrick (B.E. 1886, C.E. 1887, M.S. 1889). Walter Gill Kirkpatrick was the first Founder Medalist in 1885. The Kirkpatrick Prize is awarded to the most deserving third-year student majoring in civil engineering.
