Biography
Ghina Absi is an assistant professor in the practice of civil and environmental engineering with teaching responsibilities in the area of structural engineering.
Dr. Absi has graduated with a PhD from the Civil and Environmental Engineering at Vanderbilt, where she now teaches. Her research was in the area of risk and reliability of hypersonic structures. She has developed a novel method of fusing information coming from models of different fidelity in the estimation of unknown system parameters, under the mentoring of Prof. Sankaran Mahadevan.
Prior to her PhD, Dr. Absi has worked as a steel design structural engineer for an international company, focusing on designing high-rise buildings and complex steel structures in highly seismic and corrosive environments.
Dr. Absi is married and has three children that you will probably get to meet around her office or over Zoom.
