The Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) department conducts research in the area of applied and translational artificial intelligence (AI), focusing on leveraging AI to solve real-world problems across various domains. We develop AI-driven technologies that are not only theoretically robust but also practically impactful, driving innovation in industries such as healthcare, smart systems, and beyond. This includes developing advanced machine learning algorithms, data mining techniques, and distributed AI systems that are capable of transforming raw data into actionable insights.
Our faculty are engaged in multi-disciplinary collaborations and our focus is on bridging the gap between AI research and practical applications. We are committed to translating cutting-edge AI technologies into solutions that can be deployed in real-world settings, ensuring they are accessible, reliable, and impactful. This includes the development of AI tools for personalized medicine, systems that support autonomous decision-making in cyber-physical systems, or algorithms that enhance the safety and efficiency of smart grid operation.
