Steve Hays, BE ’73, chairman of Gobbell Hays Partners, Inc., has been elected as a fellow of the American Industrial Hygiene Association (AIHA). Hays was honored at a special AIHA ceremony held May 26, 2010 in Denver, Colorado. His company will celebrate the achievement with a reception in Nashville February 17.
Hays holds a chemical engineering degree from Vanderbilt University and currently serves on the School of Engineering’s Committee of Visitors council. He was an Engineering Alumni Council member for 12 years serving as president from 1995-1997.
Advancement to fellowship is one of the highest honors that AIHA can bestow upon a member. Only five percent of the AIHA membership can qualify for the Fellow Award which is given to those individuals who have made significant contributions to the field of industrial hygiene. These accomplishments are recognized by industry peers as outstanding contributions to the AIHA and to the profession.
Steve Hays serves as chairman of the board of Gobbell Hays Partners Inc., which provides architectural and environmental consulting services to a client base that spans from Aruba to Anchorage. An expert in indoor air quality and asbestos assessment and control, Hays has co-authored two books, 50 articles and papers and given more than 130 presentations at conferences and seminars.
