Simaan invited to participate in NSF workshop

Associate Professor of Mechanical Engineering Nabil Simaan was invited to participate in the second annual Road-mapping Workshop on U.S.  Medical and Healthcare Systems sponsored by the National Science Foundation and the University of Southern California Viterbi School of Engineering.

The highly interactive workshop held in July 2012 produced the U.S. road-mapping document. This manuscript is submitted to Congress for investment planning in robotics, which is considered for the 2015 budget. Simaan was instrumental in this process by editing sections of the document focused on dexterous manipulation and image-guided surgery.

In addition to this editorial role, Simaan will serve as editor for the 2013 IEEE International Conference on Robotics and Automation. He currently serves as an associate editor for  IEEE Transactions on Robotics and IEEE International Conference on Biomedical Robotics and Biomechatronics, serves as an Editorial Board Member of Cambridge Press Robotica Journal and was selected as best associate editor for the 2012 IEEE International Conference on Robotics and Automation.
