The Vanderbilt School of Engineering is No. 34 in the 2020 U.S. News & World Report’s 2020 Best Colleges rankings released today. The school rose four spots from 2019 rankings and is tied with Yale, University of Florida, University of California-Santa Barbara, and North Carolina State University. MIT is ranked No. 1.
The U.S. News rankings of the 206 undergraduate engineering programs accredited by ABET, and where the highest engineering degree offered is a doctorate, are based solely on the judgments of deans and senior faculty at peer institutions. There was a 71.6 percent return on the survey sent to deans and senior faculty at institutions offering doctorates.
In specialty engineering areas, Vanderbilt’s biomedical engineering program ranked No. 21, also up four spots from last year. Only 30 top ranked BME programs are reported by the magazine.
Vanderbilt University ranked 15th among national universities and seventh on the publication’s list of Best Value Schools, which lists the colleges that offer the best value for students getting need-based financial aid.
