The Vanderbilt School of Engineering is No. 37 in the U.S. News & World Report’s 2021 Best Colleges rankings released today. The school is tied with Brown University, University of California-Irvine, University of California-Santa Barbara, and the University of Virginia. MIT is ranked No. 1.
The U.S. News rankings of the 206 undergraduate engineering programs accredited by ABET, and where the highest engineering degree offered is a doctorate, are based solely on the judgments of deans and senior faculty at peer institutions. There was a 61.6% percent return on the survey sent to deans and senior faculty at institutions offering doctorates.
In specialty engineering areas, Vanderbilt’s biomedical engineering program ranked No. 24, in a three-way tie with Harvard and the University of Virginia. The rankings of the best engineering programs in a specialty are based solely on the results from the spring and early summer 2020 peer survey.
Vanderbilt University ranked 14th among national universities, up one spot from last year, and ninth on the publication’s list of Best Value Schools, which lists the colleges that offer the best value for students getting need-based financial aid.
