The Greater Starkville Development Partnership has chosen Camgian as its most outstanding business of the year by awarding it the 2022 R. Clay Simmons Exemplary Enterprise of the Year. Camgian was presented the award at the Partnership’s annual banquet.
Chairman and CEO Gary Butler, MS’94, said, “Sharing in our success is important to me and our team and we look forward to continuing to find opportunities to provide a positive impact in our community.”
Specifically, the award recognizes annually an area business that has demonstrated superior leadership in civic involvement, educational advancement, economic development, and business practices.
A key attribute of Camgian’s culture is to drive positive impact in its communities, which it has done in the Starkville area through its work with the local food banks, Habitat for Humanity, charities, and the public school system. This includes Camgian’s creation of a middle school robotics program and course on AI and machine learning for kids.
Headquartered in Starkville, Mississippi, since its founding in 2006, Camgian has grown into an award-winning technology company developing AI and machine learning technologies for some of the world’s leading military, financial and industrial organizations.
Butler is a 1994 graduate of Vanderbilt University with a master’s degree in mechanical engineering. After graduating from Vanderbilt, he went on to receive his doctoral degree from the University of Cambridge.
