Scholarship Opportunities

  • Beinecke Scholarship

    *Requires VU Nomination*

    The Beinecke Scholarship is open to juniors in arts & humanities fields who intend to pursue research-focused or creative graduate study (usually MFA or PhD programs). December 2025 or May 2026 grads are eligible this year.  Applicants should have a high GPA in their major, have identified first-choice graduate program + 3 strong academic recommendations.

  • Udall Undergraduate Scholarship (Native)

    *Requires VU Nomination*

    Udall Undergraduate Scholarship (Native) is awarded to current sophomores + juniors intending on careers in Tribal public policy or Native healthcare. Udall supports academic expenses and offers extensive professional development, including membership in the Udall Alumni Network, an association of change-makers working in Indian country and environmental fields sharing innovative ideas, mentoring and access to internship and career opportunities.

    Campus Deadline: February 15

  • Udall Undergraduate Scholarship (Environmental)

    Udall Undergraduate Scholarship (Environmental) is awarded to current sophomores + juniors actively engaged in conservation and environmental issues. Udall supports academic expenses and membership in the Udall Alumni Network, an association of change-makers working in Indian country and environmental fields sharing innovative ideas, mentoring and access to internship and career opportunities.

Awards for Students Studying Abroad or Interning Abroad

  • Fund for Education Abroad Schoalrship

    Fund for Education Abroad Scholarship supports US citizens, permanent residents or DACA recipients. Applicants should be underrepresented in study abroad (student athletes are especially encouraged to apply) who have demonstrated financial need. 

    Deadline: February 5, 12:00 PM EST

    October deadline for Spring/Summer 2026 Programs   

  • Gilman International Scholarship

    *Requires VU Nomination*

    Gilman International Scholarship supports Pell Grant recipients in studying or interning abroad on programs of any duration. Gilman awards up to $5000, with a $3000 bonus for students studying languages critical to US national security while abroad and a $1000 bonus for STEM intensive programs. 

    Priority Deadline: February 15

    Spring/Summer 2026 programs application will open August with an October 1st deadline.

  • Gilman-McCain Scholarship

    *Requires VU Nomination*

    Gilman-McCain Scholarship awards $5,000 to child and spousal dependents of active duty or activated US service members who are studying or interning abroad on credit-bearing programs. Applicants must receive any type of federal financial aid (Title IV).

    Priority Deadline: February 15

    Additional deadlines in Summer, October, January

  • Freeman-ASIA Scholarship

    *Requires VU Nomination*

    Freeman-ASIA Scholarship supports undergraduate US citizens with demonstrated financial need to study or intern in East or Southeast Asia during Summer 2025 or AY 2025/26. Funds can support tuition, program expenses, airfare, living expenses, local transportation, books, etc.
