Research Focus

Our research is focused on developing and applying magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) methods to assess tissue structure and function. We take an integrated approach to improving the information that can be extracted from imaging data. Our work includes hardware and pulse sequence design, data analysis, model validation, and applications in clinical and systems neuroscience. Recently, our focus has been on developing better methods for estimating the orientation and microstructural properties of white matter fibers in the central nervous system. These methods can be used to construct the macroscopic wiring diagram of the brain and assess the effects of injury and disease on specific pathways in brain networks.
