ME students receive awards during Senior Reception

Distinguished awards were presented May 13 to five seniors and three design teams at a reception hosted by the mechanical engineering department in honor of the department’s graduating seniors.

More than 150 people, including seniors and their families, and the ME faculty attended the gala reception in Featheringill Hall’s Adams Atrium.

The ME Program Award for a member of the graduating class judged to have made the greatest progress in professional development went to Samuel Max Nackman.

The Mechanics and Control Award for an outstanding senior showing the most promise in the study and pursuit of Mechanics and Control Engineering went to Alia Farhana Abdul Gaffar.

The Thermal-Fluids Award for an outstanding senior showing the most promise in the study and pursuit of Thermal and Fluids Engineering went to Saunak Kirti Desai.

The Leadership Award for a graduating senior showing the most promise through his engineering, management and leadership skills went to Kyle Samuel Rosenstein.

Three senior design teams were selected by the ME faculty to receive the Senior Design Team Award for showing the most creativity and originality in their design. The chosen teams were Improved Ink-Jet Printer for Two-Sided Copying (team members: B. Edwards, A. Jagoda, T. Friedlander, I. Ismail and L.Rohaizat); Active Cannula Unit for Surgery (team members: S. Goodman, E. Hodulik, J. Tucker and S. Yakub); and Thermoelectric Aerospace Engine for Heat Recovery (team members: T. Barringer, J. Board, T. Chan, S. McKnight, S. Nackman, K. Rosenstein and N. Vass).
