Janey Camp, research associate professor of civil and environmental engineering, has been elected to the board of directors of TennSMART, a public-private consortium whose goal is to create a technology roadmap and strategic plan for intelligent mobility issues in Tennessee.
Her interdisciplinary research focuses on development of new tools and approaches to better understand current vulnerabilities of infrastructure systems and the communities they serve to natural hazards toward improved resilience. She also is interested in improving understandings about the potential impacts of climatic change and other disruptions on civil infrastructure systems including freight transportation and facilities for long-term planning.
Camp is a licensed civil engineer in Tennessee and actively participates in professional societies including American Society of Civil Engineers, the Tennessee Geographic Information Council, and the Society for Risk Analysis. She has served as president of the Tennessee Society of Professional Engineers and has served on the ASCE Committee for America’s Infrastructure since 2012.
TennSMART members include Tennessee universities and state agencies, Oak Ridge National Laboratory, and FedEX, Nissan North America, Bridgestone, Google, Fujitsu America, Lyft and other companies.
The consortium focuses on research and development in these areas: connected and automated vehicles, electric vehicles, cybersecurity, freight efficiency and multimodal commuting.
