Our Mission
Our aim is to carry out top-quality, internationally leading, and truly impactful scientific research that addresses contemporary challenges in engineering and sciences requires groups of investigators with a combined expertise in Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Physical and/or Medical Sciences, and Computer Science, and with the ability to interact at the interface between these disciplines.
Our Vision
SCALES will serve as the venue of collaboration and co-discovery between researchers that focus on physical sciences and engineering, as well as those who focus on modeling, simulation, data analytics, ML and AI. To meet the real world challenges that face society, while building on the strengths and current growth trends of Vanderbilt University, the timing is right to launch a center focused on simulation, computational-modeling with AI-integrated learning for engineering systems.
